The dojang is a place of discipline, respect, and personal growth. These rules help preserve the integrity of our training environment and honor the traditions of Kyuki-Do. Every student is expected to uphold them with pride and consistency.
No shoes on the mats or training area.
Bow when entering and leaving the dojang.
Bow to the head instructor the first time you see him each day. Address him as “Sir” or “Sabom-nim.”
Bow to all black belts the first time you see them each day. Address them as “Sir” or “Ma’am.”
Turn away from the class when adjusting your dobok (uniform) or dhee (belt).
Help maintain cleanliness and setup of the dojang. Use equipment respectfully.
Report all injuries to an instructor before class or testing.
No food or drinks in the dojang.
Do not attend class under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Do not attempt techniques until they’ve been demonstrated by an instructor.
If late, wait at the side, stand at attention, and “bow in” when acknowledged.
If you must leave during class, inform the instructor and “bow out.”
Maintain discipline. Know the Tenets of Kyuki-Do and the Kyuki-Do Pledge.
Light contact only in sparring. Controlled techniques are expected. Sparring requires instructor permission.
Be courteous. Help fellow students whenever possible.
